Joss Whedon is quite clearly trying to challenge Samuel L Jackson for the crown of Busiest Man in Hollywood. Not content with just writing and directing The Avengers – one of the biggest films of the year, and arguably the biggest superhero film of all time – he simultaneously shot an adaptation of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing. And now it’s been revealed by Mad Men actress Abigail Spencer to NYMag.com that she’s joining another Whedon project:
“His next movie, I start that next month. It’s my first time [doing a project with Whedon], but I’ve always wanted to work with him. I’m so excited to do it.
It’s the most romantic film in the history of time. It’s a supernatural romance.”
Look, I’m as much a fan of Whedon as the next man (as long as that next man is a Whedon worshipper), but “most romantic film in the history of time”? Hyperbole much?

I wonder about this. Is Whedon just taking advantage of his newfound Big Name status (yeah, he’s been a name for years now, but directing the Avengers puts him in another league) or is he worried that the Avengers might be such a dismal train smash that he’s getting a move on with other projects before his good name is all but gone? Hmmm. I’m probably just making a mountain out of a molehill

It boggles my mind though how he is finding time to do all of this. I can barely find time to read comics, he’s creating movies.
