The veteran actor is the latest cast addition to director Peter Webber’s World War 2 film, and will join Matthew Fox for the historical drama. Jones will portray infamous American General Douglas MacArthur, while Fox will portray General Bonner Fellers, one of MacArthurs staff members and an expert on the Japanese.Set at the end of World War 2, shortly after Japan has surrendered, Emperor sees General Fellers tasked with the crucial decision of whether or not Japanese Emperor Hirohito should be tried and hanged as a war criminal, while also searching for a lost asian love of his that he met years ago in the US.

Speaking of the appointment of Jones to the role of MacArthur to the Hollywood Reporter, Producer Gary Foster said that “Tommy will bring strength, intelligence and gravitas to the portrayal of Gen. Douglas MacArthur, a legendary American hero”.

Of course, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen Jones portray an American Officer in World War 2, as the actor gave a solid performance in last years Captain America movie, as the gruff Colonel Chester Phillips.

Lets see if adding a Popeye pipe can result in a totally different character for the veteran actor.
