Well, here’s some good news for fans of the Evil Dead series. Lily Collins may no longer be joining the cast as a female Ash to fight against the horrors of the Necronomicon, but that doesn’t mean that the film will be without a female lead.
Producers have signed on Jane Levy in a new leading role, as the shapely actress will shift gears from sitcom roots to pure horror ones for the upcoming reboot of the Sam Raimi classic.
Levy will play the role of Mia, a lady struggling to overcome drugs, who just happens to think that spending time with friends in a log cabin in the middle of nowhere will be just the right cure for her, empire-online reports.
Of course, that’s not going to happen once all hell literally breaks loose around her, once Mia and her friends stumble upon a certain book of the dead…
This will mark new territory for Levy, as the actress is more well-known for her work on the sitcom Suburgatory, the drama series Shameless and is also appearing in the Halloween comedy Fun Size later this year.
Director Fede Alvarez now finally has a cast that is almost complete, with shooting looking to start next month, with the film scheduled for an April 2013 release in the US
