The death of a legend, as Ben Gazzara passes away

Sad news from the world of Hollywood this week, as reports are in that character actor Ben Gazzara has died, at the age of 81. While having been active in Hollywood for numerous years and films, Gazzara was more well-known as a theatrical force, earning many leading man roles throughout his career.

Born in New York in 1930, Gazzara began acting at the age of 11 after watching a friend perform at Madison Square Boys Club. After auditioning to be a part of Lee Strasberg’s Actors Studio, Gazzara then went on to star amongst other actors such as Marlon Brando and Rod Steiger.

On the big screen, the actor was seen in many roles, from films such as Th Big Lebowski to Inchon and Happiness, working all manner of characters. Gazzara was also seen in a few roles of television series’, and directed some episodes of Columbo.

Gazzara is survived by his wife Elke Stuckmann and two daughters.
