The two iconic actresses are teaming up for the big screen adaptation of the Pulitzer ulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning play, August: Osage County, which will be directed by John Wells.
Prepare for a weepy, tissue-sales increasing drama.
Written by Tracy Letts, the orignal play told the tale of two women whose family lives have shattered into different directions, going their own ways until a massive crisis forces them to retunr to the home anddysfunctional women who raised them.
Streep will play the pill-happy matriarch of the family, while Roberts will portray her daughter. August: Osage County has been in the works for quite a while, and with Streep currently nominated for a best actress oscar for her work as Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady, it looks like big screen adaptation will have some real star power behind it.
Roberts was quoted as saying about Streep;
After seeing Meryl Streep’s mesmerizing portrayal as Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady, it has me even more excited and proud to co-star with her.
Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts in an emotional tear-jerker? Consider this a warning for a movie date night in the future guys.
