Nicolas Cage is keen to set his skull on fire a third time for a possible Ghost Rider Threequel

The latest Ghost Rider film may only be hitting cinemas right about now, before it’s even been reviewed, but that doesn’t mean that motorcycle from hell star Nicolas Cage is adverse to filming another sequel.

“I know Nic wants to do it, he’s very pumped about it,” said co-director Mark Neveldine to the Playlist. “We’ll just wait to see how well [this] does.” After the first film under-performed at the box office, Cage had to lobby hard to get a go ahead for a sequel to be made, before Hollywood executives finally gave in and gave Crank Co-directors Bryan Taylor and Neveldine the green light to push forward with a sequel.

“He’s such an incredible force,” said Taylor about Cage. “When you’ve got a weapon like that, you don’t want to leave anything on the table.” We don’t how exactly the funding for a Ghost Rider 2 film came into existence, but I kind of imagine Nicolas Cage crazy-eye stared at various producers until they finally cracked.

Ghost Rider: Spirits of Vengeance release February 24th.

Because he's the writer that The Movies deserves, but not the one it actually needs right now. So we'll hunt him. Because he can't take it. Because he's not a hero. He's a loud-mouthed journalist, a watchful procrastinator. A dork knight.
