Documentarian Morgan “McDonalds really hates my guts” Spurlock attended Comic-Con back in 2010, taking his camera with him to capture a weekend of fanboys, icons and some sexy cosplay, and he has finally released a trailer about the event that has been described as a Mecca for geeks.

And so far, it’s not a scathing look that focuses on stereotypes and cliched ideas surrounding that culture, as the Spurlock doccie instead presents a more respectful take on the passions and enthusiasm that goes into attending such an event.

Stan Lee, Kevin Smith and Joss Whedon are also present for the documentary, as it explores what a cultural phenomenon that the comic book fandom has become.

See for yourself in the following trailer and official synopsis;

Have you ever imagined a place where Vulcans and vampires get along? Where wizards and wookies can be themselves? Welcome to Comic-Con San Diego. What started as a fringe comic book convention for 500 fans has grown into the pop culture event of the year that influences every form of entertainment, now attended by over 140,000 strong. COMIC-CON EPISODE IV: A FAN’S HOPE- a film by Morgan Spurlock explores this amazing cultural phenomenon by following the lives of five attendees as they descend upon the ultimate geek mecca at San Diego Comic-Con 2010.

    To go to something like the San Diego Comic Con is on my bucket list, now if only the exchange rate (and my savings) would cooperate…

        It’s a dream destination for me as well. Hell, I’d even do it in costume.

    I’m not really into the comic or cosplay scene but that trailer has started to convert me… It’s really nice to see the documentary is not mocking the culture.

    I’m loving what I’m seeing and I really hope this documentary gets to SA… I have my doubts though. Feature documentaries are criminally neglected locally.

      Pardon my ignorance, but do people actually go to a cinema to watch documentaries?
      Sorry, I live in Vereeniging, by far and large the most unhip town in South Africa…  Our local SK was showing the Prince and Me when it had been on DVD for like a month or so…  I kid you not.
