So you think you’re a wise guy with your bows and arrows and commentary on society and its ruthless nature do ya? Why I oughta…! Last weekend saw quite a few new films make a splash at the box office, from the beloved comedians being dug out of their graves, through to jails in space and eery cabins that had been stuck in distribution hell.

Only one of them could be king of the box office though, and that king was a definite contender.

It seems that there is no end in sight for the behemoth box-office fighter that is the Hunger Games, as the worlds greatest fighters triiiibbbbuuutees continued to stay in the number one spot, adding another $21.5 million to their coffers, bringing it’s total USA gross to over $337 million.

Meanwhile, the Farrelly brothers attempt at defiling a time-honoured American property, debuted in second place, as the Three Stooges proved to be somewhat of a hit with audiences, raking in $17.1 million, while The Cabin in the woods made a hauntingly $14.8 million in third place.

Titanic 3D managed to bump into a fourth place position as it celebrated a century of the unsinkable happening with a $11.6 million haul, while American Reunion fell to fifth place with an extra $10.1 million. Mirror Mirror fell further into sixth place with $7 million, while Wrath of the Titans suffered the vengeance of the box office by dropping to seventh place and earning $6.9 million.

21 Jump Street moved further undercover into eighth place, making  $6.8 million, while the Guy Pearce prison in space action flick Lock-out debuted at ninth place with $6,2 million.

Finally, Dr Seuss’ Lorax slipped down to tenth place, finding an additional $3 million to stuff into its domestic haul.
