More details revealed on Ashton Kutchers' Steve Jobs movie

I’m not wholly convinced yet that Ashton Kutcher may be the right man for the job, when it comes to portraying the late Apple head honcho, but then again, I do like being proven wrong with these kinds of movies.

He’s got the look, but does he have the acting chops? Producer Mark Hulme certainly thinks so, as he spoke about the film recently.Talking to Neowin, Hulme revealed that Jobs: Get Inspired would take place from the 1971 through to 2000, covering the “up and down years” of Jobs life, from his starting of Apple, through to his departure and eventual return.

Other actors are also currently being cast for the film, in order to portray other Apple workers such as co-founder Steve Wozniak, and former CEOs John Scully and Mike Markkula.

“We are in discussion with some exciting actors for those roles but we’re not at liberty to announce other actors yet,” Hulme said. Hulmes also said that the film will draw from “a wealth of source material” and the “support of primary sources who knew him personally”.

Speaking about how Kutcher landed up with the coveted role as Jobs, Hulme said:

Since our film covers the early years of Apple, when Jobs was in his 20′s, we needed an actor who could carry not only the youthfulness of Jobs at the time but also the psychological complexity.

Because of that, and Ashton’s physical similarities to Jobs, he’s perfect for our film. (…) When Ashton read the script he was immediately attracted to the project.

He is a Steve Jobs and Apple fan, and is technologically savvy, as well, so he recognized the historical importance of Steve Jobs and the potential of the project. He is very excited to have the role.

Sounds like your average, inspirational bipoic so far, but you can bet your savings that this film will most likely hit it big at the box office, thanks to the legions of Apple fans around the world.

In the meantime, I’m going to slip a clause in my will that prevents any of my colleagues from being involved in guiding any future biopics about yours truly, because I know that Gavin and Kervyn will be only too delighted to slip in rumours of my height issues and devastating addiction to My Little Pony, in order to sabotage that project.

Am I the only that cringes when I read that “Jobs: Get Inspired” title? Who the hell approved that?

Yeah, it’s horribly corny. Also read somewhere that it’s just going to be a fapfest about Jobs, showing none of his darker side. What a pity.
