Martin Scorsese wants to talk to you about Rolls Royces

Well here’s something for you petrol-heads out there. While a Lamborghini Murcielago or Ferrari F40 might be the ideal car for posters, the Rolls Royce has always been the choice of more sophisticated drivers, who wish to wave their social status right in the face of the 99%.

The story of Rolls Royce however, is one that spans several decades, and starts with car makers Charles Rolls and Henry Royce teaming up to take over the monocled car-driving world.

Presumably, it’s a tale of love, struggles and being true to ones dream. Sounds like perfect material for Martin “I’m done with gangster films” Scorsese to work with then.

Teaming up with producers Lord Richard “Effin” Attenborough and Anthony Haas, Scorsese is looking to help create a film about how the two famed automotive creators met up, to design the iconic vehicles, in Silver Ghost;

SILVER GHOST is described as a complex love story, not only between men and women, but men and machines. Set at the turn of the last century, it traces the story of Charles Rolls and Henry Royce, as well as the love affairs of the famed Beaulieu family.

Here’s what Scorsese had to say about his next production project:

When I read the story of ‘Silver Ghost,’ I was mesmerized. I immediately thought, ‘This is a picture that has to be made.’ And when I was asked to come aboard as a producer alongside Richard Attenborough and Anthony Haas, I didn’t hesitate for a moment.

While Scorsese may not be directing the film anytime soon, due to his current work on the Leonardo Dicaprio and Jonah Hill film, Wolf of Wall Street, he will be helping produce it at least, once the script is finished.

But a film based on retro, yet sophisticated vehicles, that tells a story know one knew? I’m practicing my old-timey harumphing sounds already.
