Bradley Cooper has played a lot of different roles in his TV and film career. He’s been everything from clone dating reporter with a bomb in his head (Thanks for that one JJ Abrams) to an amnesiac drunk teacher who did some “interesting things” with a ping pong ball in a Thailand nightclub. But as far as I know, he’s never really been a bad guy.
With Hit And Run though he finally gets to don the black hat (Did I say black hat? I meant douchey dreadlocks) as he tries to hunt down ex-bank robbing partner Dax Shepard who has since seen the errors of his ways since then and found himself a nice comfy Witness Protection life with sweetheart Kristen Bell. But Dax has held onto something from his criminal past, something that Cooper (or more specifically, a part of his anatomy) has paid very dearly to get back.
Firstly, am I the only one that always gets creeped out by Michael “Lex Luthor” Rosenbaum with hair? Secondly, while this doesn’t appearto be breaking any new ground here, it does seem mildly entertaining. With the right material both Dax Shepard (who also co-writes and -directs) and real-life fiancee Kristen Bell can be quite hilarious. But I have a feeling that this will probably be the Bradley Cooper show. The guy just has a very natural screen presence, so even as a ridiculously coifed villain he still charms. He’s already had a number of hits, and with a whole slew of movies currently in production, he’s going to have a very busy year ahead of him. And a Phillipino man behind him.
Synopsis:
“Hit an Run” is the story of Charlie Bronson (Shepard), a former getaway driver who busts out of the Witness Protection Program to drive his girlfriend (Kristen Bell) to Los Angeles so she can land her dream job. Their road trip grows awkwardly complicated, when they are chased by the feds (led by Tom Arnold), and increasingly dangerous, when Charlie’s former gang of criminals (led by Bradley Cooper) enter the fray.”
