This creepy new trailer for POSSESSION is living inside you

Seems like Jeffrey Dean Morgan has taken some time out of his busy schedule of entering Javier Bardiem lookalike competitions, to come creep us the hell out with this new trailer for Possession. I didn’t think things could get more nightmarish than the poster for this movie, but apparently I was wrong.

Oh and kids, don’t ever buy funny looking boxes from garage sales. Ever. It never turns out well. At best you get somebody’s suspiciously glued together vintage porn stash (the horror!), at worst you get a Dybbuk.

Well, that’s officially the last time I ever check inside my mouth with a mirror again. Thanks for that bit of nightmare fuel.

I’m not too sure about this whole “Based on a true story” part though, because I’m pretty sure that had it been true some medical journal somewhere would have reported on the whole, you know, GIRL WITH A FREAKING DEMON GROWING IN HER CHEST thing.

Veracity issues aside, this looks to be a genuinely creepy night at the movies.

Synopsis:

Based on a true story, “The Possession” is the terrifying story of how one family must unite in order to survive the wrath of an unspeakable evil.

Clyde (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Stephanie Brenek (Kyra Sedgwick) see little cause for alarm when their youngest daughter Em becomes oddly obsessed with an antique wooden box she purchased at a yard sale. But as Em’s behavior becomes increasingly erratic, the couple fears the presence of a malevolent force in their midst, only to discover that the box was built to contain a dibbuk, a dislocated spirit that inhabits and ultimately devours its human host.

  1. Sam Raimi movie.  Had to say that it does have a bit of a “from hell” vibe to it.

Edit: Sorry, think it was called “Drag me to hell”.

Yeah Raimi is producing. I have to admit though, I was not the biggest fan of Drag Me To Hell. It had a few great moments, but just veered a little too far into the almost cheesy/humorous side for my tastes. This seems to be sticking more to just plain pants-wetting scares.

It clearly nicks a bit (or a lot) from the Exorcist but if it’s done right, as good as the first bit of Insidious, this could be a proper scary film and not just a bland, colourless horror that uses jump scares and cats to frighten us
