Despite the fact that even just typing out the title Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter still makes me pause in incredulity that this film is actually a real-life, proper existing thing, and not just some elaborate Hollywood practical joke (as if they had the imagination for it), I have to admit that I’m starting to soften my previous dismissive stance towards it.
Especially since seeing this new gore-soaked red band trailer, which shows off some of the stylish violence that the film has to offer.
Timur Bekmembatov certainly knows how to make a film look good, I’ll give him that, and the film does boast some of my favourite actors in the cast (Yay, Alan Tudyk! Wash lives!). My only concern right now is the abundance of slow-mo shots I’m seeing. Bekmembatov managed to use it pretty effectively in Wanted and the Night Watch films, but there’s a fine line between having it work as a stylish device and the latter career of Paul W.S. Anderson.
Synopsis:
President Lincoln’s mother is killed by a supernatural creature, which fuels his passion to crush vampires and their slave-owning helpers.
