While the Wachowskis are busy putting the finishing touches on their latest film, Cloud Atlas, it seems that Lana and Andy already have a new project lined up.
So far, they have Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum up for the lead roles, in Jupiter Ascending. A film which has no synopsis whatsoever. Until now that is.Thanks to Vulture, we now have a legit bead on what the film will be about, and in typical Wachowski fashion, it’s has more questions than answers, wrapped up in a sci-fi premise, which will have the leads posing a threat to some major power in the cosmos.
I know Synopsis!
Human beings are just the Cro-Magnons, or even the Australopithecines, of what beings can ultimately go on to become in the galaxy… these higher forms of life are watching us from other, albeit this time non-meta worlds, but actual, other worlds, as in planets and moons.
These higher beings happen to have evolved, by cherry-picking animal traits from their DNA structures, and then combining them with a few strands of our own genetic make up.
Kunis, will apparently play the role of a Russian immigrant, who happens to have the exact same DNA structure as the Queen of the Universe. Of course, this makes her a total threat to the otherwise overpowered monarchy, who then decide to send in one of their top killers (Tatum), to take her out.
Of course things get complicated, love finds a way and yadda yadda yadda.
Slightly stereotyped, but interesting nonetheless. If the Wachowski brother and sister team can get the funding right for this, maybe we can finally get to watch a new film that puts the Matrix to shame.
