New Ninja Turtles movie will have martial arts like Fist of Legend and The Raid: Redemption

While the new Michael Bay produced Alien Ninja Turtles may be currently spending its time warming the shelves over at Paramount, it doesn’t stop one of the people behind it from talking about what they want to do with it, you know, when it eventually comes out.

According to an interview that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman gave TheOneRing.net, the turtles in the new movie will fight like the characters in Gareth Evans’ The Raid: Redemption and Jet Li’s Fist of Legend.

Seriously.

And as cool as that sounds, I just cannot wrap my head around how that would possibly look. The speed, complexity and bone-crunching brutality with which the fight scenes in those two movies are choreographed would make it almost impossible to accomplish if the film is going to be live action with guys in suits. If they’re going with the CG created character route a la Hulk in The Avengers, then they could certainly pull it off, but it would lose most of its visceral impact.

Eastman also went on to talk about many other things including how April O’Neal is not a teenage girl in this new reboot, the possible return of Ernie Reyes Jr and how he thinks Ken Wattanabe would make a good Shredder.

You can see the full interview below, or just skip ahead to about 1:33 to hear the discussion about the martial arts.
