Rumour: There's a war coming to Krypton in Zack Snyder's MAN OF STEEL

At this point, besides for getting a look at the costumes as well as star Henry Cavill’s ridiculous bulked up physique and even more ridiculously bulked up hair, we really don’t know all that much about Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot, Man of Steel

But now thanks to CBM, we have our first hint at what the story will entail. And it looks those guys on planet Krypton don’t just know about war, but also what it’s good for.

While Supes’ home planet has previously only received cursory glances in Superman’s filmography, that may all be set to change as according to CBM’s sources, a large portion of the film with be set on a war ravaged Krypton.

This of course could mean two things: Either they’re going to expand on the Kryptonian culture through “flashbacks” of some sort, meaning a whole lot more Russel Crowe as Superman’s biological father Jor-El. Or it means that they’re changing Superman’s origin so that Krypton does not blow up completely, and is still around to return to later. Could it be that Jor-El launched his baby into space just to escape a planet devastating war?

As to what exactly the war could be about, well that’s all still up for speculation. As far as my comic book fanboy knowledge goes, I cannot recall any major conflict on the planet that could result in the type of devastation being implied here.

Hopefully, we’ll get some light shed on the whole business in about 3 weeks time, when the film is scheduled to make an appearance at the San Diego Comic-Con. It’s hoped that we will at least see the first footage of the film, though with just under a year left until it’s 14 June 2013 release date, I wouldn’t be surprised if we got our first trailer
