Will Arnett is the Batman!

Posted in News by - June 27, 2012

The Lego Batman that is. While Christian Bale may be stealing the show with his upcoming, pack of twenties a day voiced interpretation of the caped crusader in The Dark Knight Rises, Arnett will be lending his vocal talents in the upcoming film, Lego: The piece of resistance. It’ll also be a titanic team-up of sorts, as Arnetts’ Batman will team up with a Lego Superman. As for who will be voicing the last son of Krypton, that part jas been offered to Channing “Magic Mike” Tatum, but it’s unclear whether he’ll accept it yet.

But it’s not a Lego film about the worlds finest crimefighters, but will instead be centered on a character named Emmet, voiced by Chris “Parks & Recreation” Pratt.  Here’s a synopsis as to what the story will be about:

Pratt will play Emmet, an ordinary, law-abiding, rules-following, perfectly average Lego mini-figure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary MasterBuilder.

He’s drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant from gluing the universe together, a journey for which he is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.

As to how two members of the Justice League fit into the picture, you can thank Lego for that, as the company happens to have produced building blocks on a wide variety of franchises.

So hopefully, we’ll get some superheroes, Star Wars and Harry Potter thrown into the mix. Lego: The piece of resistance will be directed by 21 Jump Streets‘ Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, alongside Robot Chickens‘ Chris mcKay.

At least this way, we’ll finally get to see Superman and Batman team up on the big screen for once.

Because he's the writer that The Movies deserves, but not the one it actually needs right now. So we'll hunt him. Because he can't take it. Because he's not a hero. He's a loud-mouthed journalist, a watchful procrastinator. A dork knight.
