Welcome to The Extras! A daily dose of all the smaller movie related news, clips and just plain cool stuff that you might have missed!

And true to what I said yesterday, here’s today’s contribution in the recent barrage that is the Dark Knight Rises marketing machine. This clip is actually not a new one, but rather the exclusive footage played at the MTV Awards a short while back. The footage had found its way online at the time, but was pulled rather rapidly by WB. Now it’s finally available officially.

Despite Bill Murray giving the idea the cold shoulder, Dan Ackroyd is determined to get Ghostbusters 3 made. Seeing as how Murray previously stated that a good enough script might just entice him again, this news may just be quite important. While doing promotion work for his Award Winning Vodka (seriously), Ackroyd revealed that a new pair of writers have been brought on board to rework the script.

“We’ve got a new writing staff working on it now. It’s got to be prefect. That’s the whole thing. There’s no point in doing it unless it’s perfect. So that’s what we’re up to now.”

Who knows, maybe I’m completely wrong and we’ll look back 20 years from today and consider Mad Buddies as a watershed moment in the history of cinema. I mean, there certainly are plenty of other films that we consider to be classics today but which critics hated upon release. Film School Rejects takes a look at 10 of them.

George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road is currently busy shooting up in our northerly neighbour, Namibia, and we’ve just received our first real on-set image of one of the principal actors. Unfortunately, it’s not of Tom Hardy or Charlize Theron, (you know, actual actors) but rather professional store window mannequin impersonator, Rosie Huntington-Whitely. She tweeted the image of herself with co-stars Zoe Kravitz, Riley Keough and Adelaide Clemens.

Keeping with Mad Max, it’s also been revealed that possibly due to budgetary constraints, the film will no longer be shot in 3D but will rather be getting the post production treatment. Yeah, because that has never ever in a million years turned out badly ever, right?

Human muppet and RnB star Cee Lo Green will be joining Keira Knightley in the romantic music-based drama, Can A Song Save Your Life?

At next week’s San Diego Comic-Con, Warner Bros will be hosting a special Extra at Comic-Con outdoor festival. The event will be televised and includes exclusive interviews with stars, all 6 Batmobiles on display and a live demonstration of the new Lord of the Rings videogame. Because indoors Comic-Con was apparently not awesome enough.

British TV comedy series turned big screen sensation The Inbetweeners, will be getting a US remake over at Paramount.

District 9 star Sharlto Copley set a few fans’ hearts racing this morning when he changed his Facebook cover photo to this image:

Unfortunately, no matter how many exclamation marks you use with your shouts of glee, there are still no plans for a sequel do D9. The image is actually just a fan created wallpaper from DeviantArts user zak-keen. Damn.

Devin over at Badass Digest has gone and done the unthinkable by posting sound logical arguments in support of Spider-Man 3‘s infamous dance scene. Does he now know that the only thing that fanboys hate more than that scene, is a logical argument?!

Keeping it arachnid… In preparation for Marc Webb’s rebooted Amazing Spider-Man, Youtube user  has created this 6 minute long supercut of all the key moments from Sam Raimi’s previous trilogy. Yes, it actually even includes scenes from Spider-Man 3.

Tyler Perry says that Matthew Fox had to go to “some dark places” to mentally and physically prepare for his role in Alex Cross. Judging by the pics of Fox in the film, those dark places apparently also contained mounds of steroids and tiger blood.

A new, slightly more detailed synopsis for The Dark Knight Rises has been released. And don’t worry, “more detailed” doesn’t mean spoilery.

“It has been eight years since Batman vanished into the night, turning, in that instant, from hero to fugitive. Assuming the blame for the death of D.A. Harvey Dent, the Dark Knight sacrificed everything for what he and Commissioner Gordon both hoped was the greater good. For a time the lie worked, as criminal activity in Gotham City was crushed under the weight of the anti-crime Dent Act.

But everything will change with the arrival of a cunning cat burglar with a mysterious agenda. Far more dangerous, however, is the emergence of Bane, a masked terrorist whose ruthless plans for Gotham drive Bruce out of his self-imposed exile. But even if he dons the cape and cowl again, Batman may be no match for Bane.”

If you’re the type of person whose eyeballs start to bleed when confronted by the almost fully unclothed male form, then I guess that’s all the Extras for you today. So long and see you tomorrow. (I’d actually prefer to join you, but unfortunately somebody needed to report on this, and Darryn suddenly made himself very scarce.)

For the rest of you, here’s a rather candid pic and video of Channing Tatum doing his male stripper thing. And no, these are not scenes from his latest film, Magic Mike. This is actually real-life footage from Tatum’s younger days, the very same time in his life that inspired the smash-hit male stripper comedy.

If you’re the type to get offended by sort of NSFW male stripper images, and are still here after my initial warning, then you’ve brought this upon yourself.
