Welcome to The Extras! A daily dose of all the smaller movie related news, clips and just plain cool stuff that you might have missed!

We’ll soon be afraid to go into the water in high definition, as Steven Spielberg’s classic Jaws gets its Blu Ray release. To celebrate FilmSchoolRejects has collected a whole bunch of video clips showing off the newly remastered film. They’ve also released this 8 min featurette to show in more detail how they restored the film to its new glory.

In our first bit of Amazing Spider-Man related news today, as I mentioned in my review, Sony has officially greenlit a further 2 sequels making this a trilogy.  The news broke on the movie’s Facebook page:

The Amazing Spider-Man is the first instalment in a movie trilogy that will explore how our fave hero’s journey was shaped by the disappearance of his parents.”

As to what brought about this decision? Money. The film saw it’s Independence Day box office takings reach 35 million domestically, with an additional 50 million internationally. That broke the record set by Transformers five years ago for biggest opening on a Tuesday.

A special advanced 3D screening of Dredd will be held at Comic-Con next week Thursday. Because there wasn’t enough reasons already to make me jealous of the people lucky enough to go.

Egotastic has a bunch of images showing off English actress and model Gabriella Wilde in costume as Sue Snell on the set of the Carrie remake. I have feeling many of you didn’t even bother to get pass “model” before you started clicking.

Movies.com takes a look at 5 Important Things to Look Out for In the Amazing Spider-Man. Slight spoilers if you haven’t seen the movie yet.

JoBlo’s Unpopular Opinion column is a weekly look at movies that the writer hated but majority audiences loved or vice versa. This week though, the gauntlet has really been thrown down, as on the 4th of July of all days, they’ve decided to tear Independence Day a new one. Things are about to get ugly.

Here’s something especially for one of our regular readers WTF101. Twitchfilm is reporting that Kristen Stewart has been offered the female lead of Kei in the live action adaptation of Akira. And now I will be shutting up, because my momma told me that if you can’t say anything good, then you shouldn’t say anything at all.

ShockTillYouDrop has a new scanned image for Resident Evil: Retribution which shows Milla Jovovich’s Alice laying the smack down on Jackie Chan some poor random zombie.

Fabien Martorell has been tapped to direct the long-in-development adaptation of Chuck Palahniuk’s Snuff. For those of you unfamiliar with the book, here’s a short description to show you why this one could get very interesting:

Based on the New York Times best-seller / cult sensation written by Chuck Palahniuk (“Fight Club,” “Choke”).

“Snuff” is an R-rated story of love and redemption set in the green room of the world’s biggest gang bang; porn priestess Cassie Wright intends to cap her legendary career by breaking the world record for serial fornication on camera with 600 men. “Snuff” unfolds from the perspectives of Mr. 72, Mr. 137, and Mr. 600, who await their turn on camera and are each connected to Cassie in strange ways. Like in all of Palahniuk’s twisted tales, nobody is who they seem to be and things are going to get worse before they get better.

Movies. com celebrates Independence Day (the day not the movie) with a round-up of The Best Cinematic Fireworks. Even if it wasn’t Independence Day I’d still have this on here, because anything with Tom and Jerry in it, gets an instant link from me.

This is just for Darryn. Chuck Norris’ cinematic exploits have been conspicuously absent from the Blu Ray shelve, but that’s all about to change as MGM and 20th Century Fox will be releasing 5 of his most popular titles, including Delta Force and Lone Wolf McQuade on the high-def format.

I heard that only reason this hasn’t been done before is because Chuck Norris was always able to play Betamax tapes on his Blu Ray player.

Capone from AICN chats to Amazing Spider-Man’s Rhys Ifans about the Lizard and the tech behind it, and the actor also drops a big bombshell about a certain rather ambiguous scene at the end of the film. Clearly, SPOILER WARNINGS are in effect, so highlight to read.

Capone: Okay, what do you think about that ending?

RI: Well, Connors is basically locked up in a very high-security mental institution.

Capone: We were debating whether it was a prison or a mental institute.

RI: It’s not a zoo. [laughs] I kept seeing it as maybe a mixture of both. Then a representative from OsCorp appears miraculously in the room. How he gets in there and how he leaves, we don’t know. Maybe we will find out. But it’s not Norman Osborn.

Capone: It’s not? You can say that?

RI: Yeah. But it is someone who is in the employ of Norman Osborn without question.

Capone: Someone we’re familiar with, who we don’t know is employed by Osborn?

RI: Yeah.

Capone: Okay, interesting.

RI: Who knows? Maybe he will be the next bad guy; we’ll see.

SPOILER OVER!

Classic English rockband Status Quo (who are probably only familiar to a whole one of you guys) are working on their very own action film in the vein of James Bond starring British TV star Craig Fairbrass and American comic Jon Lovitz. Que?

And just because we can, we end today on a bit of fan-created badassery. Brought to us by Super Power Beat Down, the same guys who did the epic Darth Vader vs Gandalf video we featured a while back, this new film is one that will surely get the comic book geeks all glassy-eyed: Batman vs Wolverine!

I can’t wait to see that.

I watched the recent anniversary edition and that looks pretty darn cool already, but this should be off the freakin chain
