Prepare to be augmented with excitement, as Deus Ex Human Revolution is headed to the big screen!

Whoa, easy there Michael Fassbender, put the hidden blade away! You see, it’s not just Assassin’s Creed which will be tearing up the silver screen soon, as it looks like cult favourite game Deus Ex will be heralding in a Human Revolution soon as well.

CBS has picked up the artificial limbs and rights to produce a movie based on last year’s flawed masterpiece, Deus Ex Human Revolution. The series of Deus Ex games have actually been around for quite a few years now, but it was Human Revolution that finally gave some background as to how humanity went from artificial limbs through to human beings that could wield fearsome nano-based technology.

Players became involved in a massive conspiracy, with one Adam Jensen at the core of it all, a security expert who was forced to undergo life-saving augmentation security after barely surviving an attack on Sarif industries.

Deus Ex Human Revolution has all the traits necessary to make the leap from video game to blockbuster movie, from a riveting story, memorable characters and a world that mixed cyberpunk with a Renaissance attitude.

That’s something that the studio is well aware of, as CBS said in a statement regarding the game;

As is clear from the wild success of the game, Square Enix and Eidos-Montréal know how to exceed their audience’s expectations by engineering incredible worlds.

No one knows Human Revolution like the team that created it and we look forward to working with them from day one to make a film adaptation worthy of the Deus Ex name.

I’m all for video game films, especially when the parties involved are interested in taking on titles which are more mature and have an epic scope. So, who do you think should be cast in the Deus Ex Human Revolution film?

    Jip, this is going to be a huge fuckup. I see this going the same way as Doom and Max Payne. And I’m the biggest DX fan I know.
