Welcome to The Extras! A daily dose of all the smaller movie related news, clips and just plain cool stuff that you might have missed!

I’ve never made any secret of the fact that I love all things Liam Neeson. The man is like a fine wine, just getting better with age. Better at rupturing your spleen with his bare hands, that is. A man like this deserves to be lauded, and what better way than with a musical!

Broken Lizard’s Jay Chandrasekhar will write and direct a sequel to CGI/live action Yogi Bear. That should be great news to the 3 of you out there that actually cared about the first movie. The only thing I remember about it was the poster which had a composition and tagline that made it look and sound like Yogi was having sexual relations with Boo Boo.

Clark Gregg, best known as Agent Coulson in the Marvel movies, will write and direct the dark comedy Trust Me, which follows ” a loser agent for young actors — and a washed-up child star himself — who stumbles upon a brilliant 13-year-old prodigy (to be played by newcomer Saxon Sharbino) and then tries to close the mega-deal that will make her a star while managing her drunk volatile father, the poaching attempts of a more successful nemesis and a growing awareness that his innocent young starlet may not be at all what she seems.”

This is Gregg’s second time behind the camera after 2008’s Chuck Palahniuk adaptation, Choke.

Here’s the final poster for the final Twilight movie (that is, until Summit Entertainment decide they miss the smell of dollar bills in the morning) and is it just me, or does not a single person on this poster look like they’re actually running? Surely that dude on the left is actually just attempting a Captain Morgan pose?

Quint over on AICN has a great interview up with Fran Kranz, the Joss Whedon frequent collaborator and the collapsible bong toting hero in Cabin in the Woods.

The folks over at Film School Rejects seem to think that, based on one line of dialogue in an interview, that Jack Black and Richard Linklater may be making a movie about controversial professional bowling champion, Pete Weber. Weber led a pretty destructive lifestyle involving alcoholism and several failed marriages, but he was also infamous for his angry tirades on audience members at competitions for apparently distracting him, and also for using “professional wrestler theatrics” to distract and unnerve his opponents.

Here’s the first look at Daniel Radcliffe sporting his creepy head appendages in Horns, the weird upcoming movie based on Joe Hill’s novel of the same name. The story follows a young man who wakes up from a blackout hangover with horns, that grant him special abilities, sprouting out of his head. And to make his day even suckier, he accused of the rape and murder of his girlfriend.

Robot Chicken creator, Family Guy star and professional leprechaun impersonator Seth Green, will headline The Identical, a new indie drama about a rock ‘n roll drum trying to fight all the temptations around him. The film co-stars Ray Liotta, Ashley Judd and Joe Pantoliano and was written by Space Cowboys scribe Howie Klausner.

The Wachowski Starship (which still sounds silly to say) will be teaming up with Babylon 5 creator and popular comic book writer J. Michael Straczynski to develop a new sci-fi TV series called SENSE8. And that’s pretty much everything we know at this point.

Speaking of the Wachowski’s, the siblings have definitely shaken their camera-shy image of late, and have been popping everywhere to promote their work. One such occurrence was at Fantastic Fest, where the brother and sister did a Q&A for their and Tom Twyker’s upcoming sci-fi epic, Cloud Atlas. While the full video of the event hasn’t been made available yet, you can now check out a portion of it. And don’t worry, while they do discuss the novel on which it’s based, it’s reasonably spoiler free for the film.

Phillip Baker Hall, Anthony Mackie, Aubrey Plaza and Giovanni Ribisi have all joined the cast of the Chris Evans and Michelle Monaghan romantic comedy, A Many Splintered Thing. The movie sees Evans as a guy who meets and hits it off with a young lady when he pretends to be a philanthropist at a charity dinner. When he discovers that she’s engaged, he feigns a platonic relationship to get close to her. So in other words, it’s just one clumsy Julia Roberts away from being the Avengers of Rom-Com cliches.

Broadway World is reporting that Meryl Streep is looking to play the role of the Witch in Into the Woods, the adaptation of the Tony Award winning Broadway musical that mashes together several well known fairy tales to craft together the original story of a Baker and his wife who try to reverse a witch’s curse on their family in order to have a child, and get their “happily ever after.”

And we end today on this fan-made deleted scene that will finally provide an answer to a question that I’m sure has been keeping you up at nights since 1978: How did Michael Myers learn to drive a car in Halloween?

This also got me thinking… aren’t vampires supposed to be able to turn into bats? Whatever happened to that?
