Just when you thought it couldn't get more offensive, here's the Red Band trailer for MOVIE 43

Hollywood works in phases. I don’t know if it’s the plastic surgery induced hive-mind or something, but it always seems that movies in the same genre always tend to get released at the same time. Early this year was the Snow White phase, some years ago it was self-aware slasher movies and in a memorable period of the mid 90’s, there wasn’t a week that went by that Earth wasn’t being destroyed by volcanoes and Aerosmith songs.

And it looks like we’ve found our next phase: The anthology movie. Following on the heels of horror anthology V/H/S comes Movie 43, which looks as raunchy as it is star studded.

Warning: This movie is not for the weak-stomached, faint of heart, or easily offended. In “Movie 43,” comedy is served steaming hot by director Peter Farrelly of The Farrelly Brothers (“Something About Mary,” “Dumb & Dumber”) in one of the most original comedies ever made. Starring Elizabeth Banks, Kristen Bell, Halle Berry, Leslie Bibb, Kate Bosworth, Gerard Butler, Bobby Cannavale, Kieran Culkin, Josh Duhamel, Anna Faris, Richard Gere, John Hodgman, Terrence Howard, Hugh Jackman, Johnny Knoxville, Justin Long, Stephen Merchant, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Chloë Grace Moretz, Chris Pratt, Liev Schreiber, Seann William Scott, Emma Stone, Jason Sudeikis, Uma Thurman, Naomi Watts, and Kate Winslet, “Movie 43” is jaw-dropping, uproarious, outrageous fun.

Boasting a cast and crew list longer than many other movies’ plots, I’m pretty sure that there are going to be couple flat and inconsistent moments in the full movie, as different directors tell their stories with different actors, but man oh man, there are some hilarious moments on display here in this trailer.

This seems like the vintage unflinching, uncompromising Farrelly Brothers that gave us Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels taping the head back on a blind boy’s parakeet, Ben Stiller’s testicles caught in a zipper and Cameron Diaz’s very unique take on hair styling gel. Let’s hope that other directors like Elizabeth Banks, Bob Odenkirk, James Gunn and Bret Ratner can bring the same level of raunchy comedy.

Wait, did I just say Brett Ratner? OK, I may need to skip through that part.

PS: Yes, that is indeed King Leonidus as the “leprachaun”.

  1. I know it probably won’t live up the trailer, but I have to see this. I simply have to. And not just because of my massive crush on Anna Faris.
