Welcome to The Extras! A daily dose of all the smaller movie related news, clips and just plain cool stuff that you might have missed!

In case you haven’t noticed, you’re currently on the internet. Know what the internet does really well? Well, besides making fun of Darryn’s batboobs and calling him Brenda. That’s right: Put cats into stuff. So with that in mind, we kick off today with this new pussified trailer for Martin McDonagh’s Seven Psychopaths called Seven Psychocats.

Alex Cross director Rob Cohen may have kicked off the Fast and the Furious franchise with his his original 2001 hit, but he sure as hell wasn’t happy about what came afterwards.

“The first couple sequels though, what I hated about them was that it was just for money, the studio was just milking the cash cow. It’s a miracle they didn’t kill it. If you were to just watch ‘Tokyo Drift,’ you’d say ‘I never want to see anything related to Fast and Furious again.’ “

The man speaks the truth. The sequels were shiny, pimped out turds, but luckily Justin Lin righted the ship with Fast Five taking it from just people driving in cars really fast, to a proper full blown action/heist blockbuster, and earning a ridiculous amount of money in the process. With Fast 6 currently in progress and no sign of this franchise stopping anytime soon, it was asked whether Cohen would return to helm another installment.

“I’d be happy to do it. I mean, it is my baby. No matter what way they twist it, I am still the guy who did the first one and made it what it was. I think that for a series to last ten or twelve years, you have to keep growing. I don’t know that I would have gone to the heist world, but the fact that it did $550 million, twelve years after the first, is a compliment to what we started out to do.”

Marvel and Sony Japan will be teaming up with Mad House studios again to produce a new Iron Man anime feature film titled Iron Man: Rise of Technovore, which will be available in in the first quarter of 2013, and will “explore a confrontation between Iron Man and the villainous Ezekiel Stane”. Here’s the poster to go along with the announcement,,which hints at a couple of other familiar faces also dropping to hang with Tony.

Jason Fuchs has been tapped by Disney to pen the screenplay for an upcoming Robert Zemeckis produced sci-fi adventure called The Magic Catalogue. Since I’m trying my best to be mature here this week, I will not make a bad pun about Mr Fuchs’ surname, and instead tell you that the “the sci-fi adventure is based on a concept by story artist Chris Appelhans and revolves around teens who inadvertently acquire a cache of high-tech weapons the likes of which have never been seen.”

It’s unsure whether this will be live action or CGI.

Ron Perlman, Pruitt Taylor, Tom Bower and Devon Graye are the latest cast additions to the indie thriller Angry Little God, which is a remake of the Thai film 13: Game of Death “which follows a bright but meek social services coordinator who’s drowning in debt and desperate as he’s about to marry the love of his life. He receives a mysterious phone call informing him that he’s on a hidden camera game show where he must execute 13 tasks to receive a cash prize of over $6 million, He accepts the challenge, but even with thousands of dollars suddenly appearing in his bank account, he realizes he’s in over his head.”

Here’s the trailer for the recently announced Quentin Tarantino XX Blu-Ray boxset, which collects some of the highlights from 20 years of the director’s career and I can’t really type anything further as I can’t stop drooling at that gorgeous Mondo box art.

Steven Spielberg unveiled Lincoln as the surprise screening to a packed house at the NYFF last night, and the first impressions have come streaming in via twitter. It would seem that Spielberg’s latest have divided critics, with some calling it overly long with others saying it’s the best work of the celebrated director’s career. What they all agree on though is not only that the performances across the board are amazing, and that you’ll probably see a large number of their names being read out come awards season, but also that the film is a lot more lighthearted and funny than the trailers have made it out to be.

The rather amazing website for Pixar’s Monster’s University has launched. I won’t spoil it for you, but if you have to time to click on cool things for a while, then I suggest you head over there.

Ask and ye shall receive. Just as regular reader James Francis yesterday indicated that after the Robocop set pics revealed yesterday that he would like to see Robo with his visor on, so the Internet gods have delivered. Daily Blam has scored a couple of shots of a scene that appears to be showing Robocop quelling some anti-robot protestors (their signs read “God hates robots”. How 20th century), but unlike the other set pics these show him in all his Cylon lookalike glory with his visor down and his signature hand cannon drawn.

Quick, James! Ask for me to be rich and famous!
