First look at Noah and his family all dressed up in these on-set pics for NOAH

I’m guessing that when you’re given the task of building a gargantuan boat to house your family as well as a large menagerie of animals by an invisible higher power, despite the fact that there is no sea around upon which to sail it, that you would probably have to deal with a couple of mockers and naysayers.

Now in my personal experience, things tend to do go a lot smoother with these doubting types when you’re built like a viking with a beard to match. Which appears to be the same school of thought that Russell Crowe’s Noah subscribes to.

The pics come courtesy of CBM and show Russell Crowe as the biblical shipwright Noah, Jennifer Connelly as his wife Naameth and Emma Watson as Ila, the young lady who grows attached to Noah’s son Ham (played by Logan Lerman, and not a pig), in costume as they walk to and from set.

The verdict is still out on how receptive audiences will be to writer/director Darren Aranofsky’s version of the biblical tale, but at least we know that the characters will all be looking the part. I mean, I think that if I happened to be around back then, and a guy looking like that Noah me to get on boat, I would get on the frakking boat.

NOAH is a close adaptation of the Biblical story of Noah’s Ark. In a world ravaged by human sin, Noah is given a divine mission: to build an Ark to save creation from the coming flood. The screenplay was written by Darren Aronofsky and Ari Handel and revised by Academy Award®-nominated screenwriter John Logan (GLADIATOR, HUGO). Scott Franklin and Aronofsky of Protozoa Pictures, along with Mary Parent of Disruption Entertainment, will produce the film. The film will be executive produced by Ari Handel (BLACK SWAN), Arnon Milchan of New Regency and Chris Brigham (INCEPTION, ARGO).
