I’ve watched a hell of a lot of bad movies. More than any one person should have to for a single lifetime. I’ve chortled at the too bad to be serious nature of the FP, managed to find humour in Freddy got Fingered and think that Hercules Returns is an Australian masterpiece.
But I’ve neglected some really, really good films as well as I scraped the bottom of a barrel to find the worst of the worst. Here’s five such films that I need to actually still watch, believe it or not.
Inception
What the critics say: Inception does a difficult thing. It is wholly original, cut from new cloth, and yet structured with action movie basics so it feels like it makes more sense than (quite possibly) it does.

What I say: Dream thievery shenanigans? I’ll watch it later. I need to finish rewatching Grandma’s Boy for the tenth time today.
Warrior
What the critics say: It hardly rewrites the rulebook, but Warrior is a powerful, moving and brilliant sports-pic-cum-family drama. Like “The Fighter,” but with kicking.

What I say: What, no Batman? Then I don’t care who Tom Hardy is punching right now.
Anti-Christ
What the critics say: Very few actors would have the courage to allow von Trier to put them through what Dafoe and Gainsbourg experienced in the name of art.

What I say: I’m not taking a chance with anything that includes a glimpse at the Green Goblins’ hobgoblin.
The Raid: Redemption
What the critics say: Remember your first time with Hard Boiled? Die Hard? This is how it’s done – a clean, hard, constant hit of adrenalin. If it’s not the best action movie of the year, we’ll eat a fridge.

What I say: I’m not even worthy to unwrap the plastic from the Blu Ray DVD that I received a month ago. One day, I’ll man up.
The Muppets Movie
What the critics say: More fresh than retro, The Muppets bursts with charm and cheeky humor.

What I say: I’ll be honest here, I freaking hate Fozzy bear. I’d like to wakka wakka his organs out of his body if I had the chance.
That’s just five well received films that I still need to see. How about you? Any classics lurking in your closet?

I dunno if this can be rated as a classic, but I finally got around to seeing Dog Soldiers this weekend. finally bit the bullet and I can admit i am glad I did. Just loved it.
Inception? I just cannot get myself to watch that. Ask me to believe in orcs, elves and dwarves, a matrix, a terminator, a predator, space travel and Rob Schneider’s career. But invading a persons dreams? Aksing a bit much there…

Pity you didn’t see Inception while it was still on at the movies. Its one of those that is simply better on the big screen, watching it on DVD is not the same. Unless you have a massive screen and an excellent surround sound system, that will help.
