After last week’s massive Disney-Lucasfilm news triggered a tsunami of movie geek reaction (some good, some bad), today we want to know all about your feelings towards the Star Wars franchise.

Are you a lifelong fan with “New Hope” for the future? Did the lacklustre prequels and George Lucas’s milking of the series completely turn you off? Or have you never liked Star Wars at all. Which camp do you belong to?

Star Wars has so much potential (based on original trilogy) that the “prequels” almost ruined. If they can return to the original style/feel then there is a future for it! As long as it is not just another “milk-job”.

Like I said, I have faith in Star Wars. I just had zero faith in George Lucas. Eps 1-3 was Lucas just running amok with not a soul reigning him in, or steadying his hand. Now that he’s out the picture, so to speak, the cinematic universe has never looked more hopeful.

I’m surprised there hasn’t been more fan backlash, which just shows how unhappy fans have been with Lucas. But it is a bit strange that they all expect better things from Disney. The company is paying a lot of money for this – and much of that value is derived from EXACTLY the last three movies and their subsequent spin-offs. Look no further than the Clone Wars TV series to see proof of that.

Disney is buying Star Wars because the series has found a new fan base. It doesn’t care about the old fans – if you are over 30, you don’t really spend money on this anyway. Not unless you are a rare uber-geek or you have children. Disney wants the latter and the future of Star Wars lies in this.

In short, if you hate what Lucas did, just wait and see what Disney will get up to. It did not buy this franchise to save it from Lucas. It bought it because Lucas and co. carved a market for it going forward.

    The milking has just begun…
