Keeping it local with the trailer for BUSTIN' CHOPS!

We see all kinds of films showcased here on The Movies. Animation, indie, big budget, Baytastic Baysplosions and all that.  But we don’t have too much local content on here either. Well besides that Tarzan one, but the less said the better.

So here’s a trailer for Bustin’ Chops then. The idea? Simple. A team of stunt-men reunite to pull of a feature length film that chronicles a journey of blood, pain, and sorrow (Trademark pending). Which is pretty much what the audience is going to be feeling.

It’s a STUNT movie! Because Jackass made enough cash at the box office, so why can’t a local version pull off the same crap as well? Based on two series that I had no idea even existed, AF and Mullets, the movie is a collaboration between Eugene Koekemoer and Danie Barnard.

The movie starts 5 years after stuntman Eugene Koekemoer and his crew of misfit stuntmen left the world of fame with their Stunt TV shows and started to work regular 9 to 5 jobs. Everybody seems to be doing well except Eugene, so he devises a way to get his whole crew back to follow him one more time on the road to fame. It doesn’t end there, Eugene’s plan is to make a STUNT movie and show it to Steven Spielberg when he visits South Africa.

Follow Eugene and his crew on a journey of blood, pain, and sorrow, as he attempts to pull of the biggest con in history.

Guys, I understand the whole local is lekker support vibe, and that the people involved went through unbelievable amounts of pain and suffering to get this film made. But it looks so stupid, that I’m ready to start drinking bottles of Vodka if it would help me get through an entire film of these inane antics.

Here’s the official website for the film, with choice quotes such as “Jaco slept most of the time while we filmed and only woke up to do his stunts, his favourite quote: Leave me the f… alone, I’m sleeping.” and “Louis’s favourite quote: I hate you Paul!”.

I honestly wish these guys success. And if I ever want to experience what it’s like to force my brain cells to commit suicide, I might give this half-baked idea a viewing one day.
