Seth MacFarlane’s next film will be the comedy western A MILLION WAYS TO DIE IN THE WEST

So, what exactly is next for Ted director and Family guy creator Seth MacFarlane? While a Ted sequel is no doubt on the cards, alongside a Family Guy film for the big screen, those are projects for the future instead. So after a tint hosting the Oscars next year, it looks like MacFarlane will be helming and starring in the trickiest genre of all, the comedy western.

THR says the MacFarlane film, A million ways to die in the west, has also been co-written by Ted’s Alec Sulkin and Wellesly Wild. Scott Stuber, who helped produce on the foul mouth teddy bear flick, will take on the same responsibilities here, with Media Rights Capital forking over some cash to finance it.

Scheduled right now to start shooting in early 2013, there’s no description yet as to what the film will really be about, besides a reference to the granddaddy of that genre, Blazing Saddles, and that fact that this will be “a Western with contemporary humor, with one undercurrent being just how dangerous and painful life really was in the late 1800s.”

And poop jokes probably with foul language, knowing MacFarlane. I enjoyed Ted when that was relesed earlier this year, and while it wasn’t groundbreaking comedy, it was still good for a few laughs.

Which makes me kind of excited to see what MacFarlane is going to do with his next project.
