HomeNewsDisney to head back down the rabbit hole for an ALICE IN WONDERLAND sequel Darryn Bonthuys December 10, 2012 News While Alice in Wonderland may have been a few hats short of a truly madcap experience, the film from director Tim Burton certainly did manage to take advantage of the 3D gimmick to craft something visually memorable. And it did so to the tune of over a billion dollars at the box office. Which means that Disney is more than happy to host another tea party for what could be a new franchise set in Wonderland. It’s still early days though, as only Alice screenwriter Linda Woolverton is officially attached to the project, so that she can pen a new script. Woolverton also penned a recent stage musical of the film which starred Johnny Depp, Mia Wasikowska, Helena Bonham Carter and Anne Hathaway, and has also been busy with another Disney property that goes by the name of Maleficent. There’s no word yet on what a second film plot shall be, but seeing as how the first one made use of the original Lewis Carrol stories In Wonderland and Through the looking glass, it might be time to crank out some new material. Not bad work so far for a film based on a book that was written to make fun of algebra. Sorry what film was it again? Kervyn Cloete I have yet to speak to a single person who will actually admit to truly liking the first film, so the fact that it made over a billion dollars just boggles my mind. Nathan Horne I thought this was the sequel to the old Disney cartoon… ???
