There seems to be a trend in Hollywood, whereby if an actor/actress wins the Oscar for an emotionally draining role, their next gig or two tends to… well, suck. Maybe they’re relaxing their spent acting muscles or something. Who knows.
But the point is that you’ll have a decent actress like Halle Berry winning for Monster’s Ball and then doing Catwoman. And Die Another Day. And Perfect Stranger. And New Year’s Eve. And Dark Tide.
Now I would suggest that somebody ring her up and tell her that she needs to stop starring in these turkeys, but unfortunately it looks like she’s on the phone busy making another one.
When veteran 911 operator, Jordan (Halle Berry), takes a life-altering call from a teenage girl (Abigail Breslin) who has just been abducted, she realizes that she must confront a killer from her past in order to save the girl’s life.
Now Abigail Breslin is an amazingly talented young actress (the 4th youngest to ever be nominated for an Oscar for Little Miss Sunshine) and I hate to see her in what appears to be a very by the numbers film at best, but she’s still young and can afford to make a few stupid mistakes.
Speaking of young, is it just me or is Halle Berry pulling off a young Pam Grier look here? That being said though, it looks like her hair-do will be outperforming most of the rest of the cast in this movie.

It looks good, plus the director is pretty decent.
