It's a Good Day to Die "R". Plus a new TV spot

How much difference can a word make? The word, in this case, being “Motherf@#er”. Well, according to Eddie Murphy’s career nose dive since he started getting all family friendly, a lot. John McClane might not quite be on that level yet, but ever since the last Die Hard film went all PG-13, some were wondering whether more than just the character’s colourful language (especially when it’s the sting in his most famous catch-phrase) was getting nerfed.

Well, luckily for us, they’re putting the “R” back in Die Hard.

ComingSoon.net broke the news that the film will be getting the R classification by the MPAA, which should reassure (pardon the pun) die hard fans of the franchise. The first 3 films in the series all received the same mature age restriction, and while Live Free or Die Hard (aka Die Hard 4.0)  eventually had an R rated cut made available on home release, it was relegated to PG-13 in cinemas.

Along with the news of the film’s more mature rating, a new TV spot has also been released, which does its best job at reminding us once again, that yes, there a lots of explosions in this movie, and Bruce Willis acts all snarky around them.

Since the firstDie Hardin 1988, John McClane has found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time, with the skills and attitude to always be the last man standing, making him enemy #1 for terrorists the world over. Now, McClane faces his greatest challenge ever, this time on an international stage, when his estranged son Jack is caught up in the daring prison escape of a rogue Russian leader, and father and son McClane must work together to keep each other alive and keep the world safe for democracy.

Because without the ‘R’ in ‘Die Hard’, it’s just ‘Die Had’
