Time to seek justice kemosabe, in this new Superbowl trailer for THE LONE RANGER

You guys won’t believe this, but I’ve got a trailer here for The Lone Ranger, and it has a Armie Hammer to Johnny Depp ratio of at least 65% in his favour. I mean, the film is actually about him, ain’t it? And it seems that early trailers were taking advantage of the Johnny Depp name in order to get interest up for this flick, as this new TV spot is light on the paleface, and heavy on the legendary Lone Ranger himself.

Which is the way that it is supposed to be.

The more I see of this film, the more I like it. I love westerns, and combining a stylised take on a classic hero just has me slobbering for more. The Lone Ranger is out on July 3, and recounts the tale of how lawman John Reid wound up as a vengeful cowboy who took the law into his own hands, while assisted by that native American Injun feller, Tonto.

It’s out in July, and also stars Tom Wilkinson, William Fichtner, Barry Pepper, James Badge Dale, Ruth Wilson and Helena Bonham Carter. Gore Verbinski directs.

Looks worrying like Wild Wild West or (Gods no) Jonah Hex.

Yeah, I’m still very iffy on this one. Gore Verbinski can deliver the goods though (see first Pirates of the Carribean), and he already made the best western of the last 5 years in Rango, so I’m cautiously optimistic right now.
