Take a highway to the danger zone in the new trailer for Disney's PLANES

Y’know, not every film that Pixar releases, happens to be actually be Oscar material. Take Cars for instance. Yeah, it’s a fun movie, but compared to the majority of the Pixar library, it finishes in last place. Pixar then went on to make a second Cars film a few years later, and that’s a movie which didn’t even finish. It was terrible, is what I’m saying.

Still, the Cars universe was a hit with the kids who dig anthropomorphic vehicles, something that Disney wanted to advantage the hell out of. Which is why they came up with Planes two years ago. And it looks like they’re finally ready to release that film.

It’s pretty much Cars in the air, with the usual “BE TRUE TO YERSERLF GUY!” motto attached to it, as Planes is the story of Dusty. A crop duster aircraft, Dusty dreams of competing in the greatest air race known to, erm, plane-kind, but he has two problems. One, he’s a slower model of aircraft. Two: Wait for it, see if you can guess this one…He’s afraid of heights.

From high above the world of “Cars,” flies “Planes,” Disney’s upcoming animated action-packed comedic adventure starring Dusty, a big-hearted, fast-flying crop duster who dreams of competing in the most exhilarating around-the-world air race in history. There’s only a couple of not-so-small problems – Dusty is not exactly built for racing and he also happens to be afraid of heights.

Despite his fear and with encouragement from his mentor, a naval aviator named Skipper, Dusty narrowly qualifies for the big competition. Dusty’s sportsmanship and speed begin to rattle the defending champ of the race circuit, Ripslinger, who will stop at nothing to see Dusty fail.

When disaster strikes during the climax of the final race, Dusty’s courage is put to the ultimate test. With the support of friends old and new, Dusty reaches heights he never dreamed possible and in the process, gives a spellbound world the inspiration to soar.

The film is out on DVD soon. The little ones will probably dig it.

Update: Disney has pulled the current trailer, and say that a newer one is on the way. We’ve left the older trailer for the film up so long.

  1. So by logic this will get a second movie made and then they will go and release the movie “Ships” right?

It has to be trains, coz then they would have done their own version of “Planes, Trains and Automobiles!”
