Fillet ‘o Fred anyone? How about some Leg of Larry? Relax folks, I haven’t been reading Cooking with Idi Amin lately. Instead, I’ve got a glimpse at ol’ Hannibal Lector’s move from the big screen to a smaller one. Made famous by Anthony Hopkins in the iconic Silence of the lambs, the legacy of the doctor with a taste for flesh has been an enduring franchise.
So what better way to revitalise it, than by going the origin route with a big budget TV show?
Hannibal has a great cast so far. Mads “Pusher” Mikkelsen as the titular character, Launrece Fishburne, Gina Torres, Gillian Anderson, Eddie Izzard and Ellen Greene, with Caroline Dhavernas and Lance Henriksen. That’s some serious talent for any show. Charting the rise of Hannibal as a forensic pyschiatrist, he soons finds a worthy adversary in the form of criminal profiler Will Graham.
A game of cat and mouse begins, as Hannibal’s killing spree escalates, with producer Bryan Fuller influencing the overall style of the series.
Hannibal is out in April, and will hopefully be on TV soon locally.
