After a couple of teaser trailers, shorts and posters hyping everything but the main characters themselves, it looks like Gru is finally ready to step into the spotlight for the upcoming Despicable Me sequel. Here’s the trailer for the Supervillain saves the world film.
With Gru more content to be a father than a villain, Despicable Me 2 finds the super-criminal recruited by the Anti-Villain League to help taked down a threat that is far, far more evil than he ever was. And dangerous, I guess. Steve Carrell once again voices Gru, with newcomers Kristen Wiig as Lucy Wild and Steve Coogan as Sir Ramsbottom (BOTTOM!).
It looks solid so far, and while the loveable little yellow minions seem to be getting a bit of an expanded role, it seems that they won’t be stretching out as more than comic relief and gags. And there ain’t nothing wrong with that. Despicable Me 2 arrives in July. IN 3D!
