Veronica Mars, what have you done? Your highly regarded super awesome TV show is bouncing back in movie form with backing from the fans, something that has no doubt given numerous other actors and actresses ideas. Why just look at Melissa Joan Hart, and her failing Kickstarter to get a crap movie made!

And now Zach Braff wants yo cash, as the former star of Scrubs wants to create a new movie after 2004’s Garden State. And by golly, you folks are more than willing to finance the crazy experiments of Doctor Dorian.

Launched yesterday, it looks like Braff will indeed realise some independent filmmaking, as his Kickstarter for Wish I Was Here has already secured $1.3 million of the $2 million needed. Let me repeat that. A day on Kickstarter, and already raking in pledges to the tune of over $1.3 million. Dr Cox would be proud.

So what’s the film about? Here, have a quoted paragraph and a pitch video;

“Wish I Was Here” is the story of Aidan Bloom (played by me) a struggling actor, father and husband, who at 35 is still trying to find his identity; a purpose for his life. He and his wife are barely getting by financially and Aidan passes his time by fantasizing about being the great futuristic Space-Knight he’d always dreamed he’d be as a little kid.

When his ailing father can no longer afford to pay for private school for his two kids (ages 5 and 12) and the only available public school is on its last legs, Aidan reluctantly agrees to attempt to home-school them.

The result is some funny chaos, until Aidan decides to scrap the traditional academic curriculum and come up with his own. Through teaching them about life his way, Aidan gradually discovers some of the parts of himself he couldn’t find.

Right now, Braff wants to start shooting in August, and going the Kickstarter route allows him to make the film that he wants to make. Jim “Big Bang Theory” Parsons will co-star with him, while Larry “The Hangover” Sher will handle the cinematography. Hopefully, bestest pal Donald “Turk” Faison will also pop up. There’s still plenty of time to donate, but if you were keen on taking the $10 000 spot, bad news: Someone has already done that.

Man, I need to get in on this Kickstarter action. To the idea-mobile!

    Yeah, that premise sounds like mawkish, overly sentimental pappy-goo. And as much as Garden State was celebrated upon its release, time has revealed it to be similarly sentimental navel-gazing
