Robert-Redford-The-Great-gatsby-1974

Well, kind of. The upcoming latest adaptation of the greatest sammich ever made is out soon, and it stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire among many other great actors in that ensemble flick. But it’s not the first time that The Great Gatsby has hit the big screen.

Way back in 1974, Robert Redford headlined in that disco era movie adaptation of the swinging 1920’s. You can probably pick it up for cheap on DVD right now, or wait for ETV to stop showing Anaconda repeats and catch it for free. Or you can see gratis on the big screen, once more.

TCM and Nu Metro will be screening the classic Redford film next week on May 12, and entrance is cheaper than oxygen. The F. Scott Fitzgerald film will be shown for free at 17:15, at the following cinemas:

  • Hyde Park
  • Montecasino
  • Menlyn Park
  • The Pavilion
  • V&A Waterfront
  • Walmer Park

Tickets are as stated above, free, and are limited to two per person. First come, first serve, no regrets.
