There’s a lot of great science fiction type films out at the cinemas lately. You’ve got everything from romance to action being covered in these genres, and the results are at least interesting. But there’s one sub-sub-genre that sci-fi itself has yet to cover.

I’m talking about alien folk duo action romance comedy. No such film has ever existed befroe. And then the History of Future Folk came along. Warning, this trailer contains massive amounts of the two deadliest audio attack forms known to mankind: Country and Western.

An alien decides to form a bluegrass band instead of destroying Earth.

I love movies like this. Sure, it’s low budget based on the fact that the main characters are wearing spraypainted buckets on their heads while chasing a reject monster from the old Doctor Who TV show, but it still looks like some decent fun anyway. Nils d’Aulaire and Jay Klaitz look more than capable as the planet Hondo aliens that go native on our third rock from the sun, all thanks to some good ol’ music.

The History of Future Folk is directed by John Mitchell and Jeremy Kipp Walker, and it’ll be playing in select North American venues before hitting DVD and online services, later in the year. Hondo!
