It’s a good time to be a car in Hollywood. Whether it’s Vin Diesel crashing one or a Snail wanting be one, cars are in high demand right now. And that includes a couple of retro beauties as well, as the upcoming Rush from Ron Howard looks set to use quite a few of the legendary F1 vehicles for his upcoming flick.
The epic action-drama stars Chris Hemsworth (The Avengers) as the charismatic Englishman James Hunt and Brühl (Inglourious Basterds) as the disciplined Austrian perfectionist Niki Lauda, whose clashes on the Grand Prix racetrack epitomized the contrast between these two extraordinary characters, a distinction reflected in their private lives.
Set against the sexy and glamorous golden age of Formula 1 racing, Rush portrays the exhilarating true story of two of the greatest rivals the world has ever witnessed–handsome English playboy Hunt and his methodical, brilliant opponent, Lauda. Taking us into their personal lives on and off the track, Rush follows the two drivers as they push themselves to the breaking point of physical and psychological endurance, where there is no shortcut to victory and no margin for error. If you make one mistake, you die.
I kinda like the angle that this new trailer is taking. If there’s one thing that F1 isn’t about, it’s inspiration for underdogs. It’s all about being the best driver on that track, and if that means Aryton Senna-ing your vehicle into a Prousty rival so that you can maintain a points lead, then so be it.
Rush is out in September, and stars Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Brühl as legendary racers James Hunt and Niki Lauda.

Awesome. Grand Prix was one of the best driving movies ever made and the Senna documentary showed how drama is a big part of this sport. So Rush is good news. Also, Hemsworth needs something good after that Red Dawn turkey.
