There was a time when men were hairy, alcohol was encouraged before driving and the news was trusted to inform you of the world around you. Times have changed, sex panther cologne is now illegal and people with terrible IQ points are no longer allowed to present the weather.

But before the modern day destroyed the news team as we knew it, there was a man who told things like they were, never held back and did so with salon-quality hair that was magnificent. His name was Ron Burgundy, and he returns later this year with his trusty news team. Here’s the first proper trailer for that upcoming film.

With the 70′s behind him, San Diego’s top rated newsman, Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell), returns to the news desk in “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.” Also back for more are Ron’s co-anchor and wife, Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate), weather man Brick Tamland (Steve Carell), man on the street Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd) and sports guy Champ Kind (David Koechner) – All of whom won’t make it easy to stay classy…while taking New York’s first 24-hour news channel by storm.

It looks like classic Burgundy so far to me. Horribly clueless and unintentionally racist/sexist/alcoholic, while the rest of his crew gets into all manner of trouble thanks to their own vices, it’s starting to shape up nicely so far. But I’m kind of excited to see how Steve Carrell’s Brick gets on with Kristin Wiig’s ditzy character the most, as he was the unsung star of the first film.

But hopefully it’ll only be in small doses, as that’s how Brick works best. Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues stars the usual suspects of Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, Christina Applegate and David Koechner. Along for the ride are new faces Harrison Ford, John C Reilly, Kristen Wiig and James Marsden.

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues is reporting the news from December 20.
