Lose yourself in the CABIN IN THE WOODS maze

Were you perhaps watching all those kids die in Cabin in the Woods and daydreaming of being at the cabin yourself? Well, neither did I, because that seems reckless and terrifying. However, the evil folks over at Universal Orlando will now be giving you the opportunity to do just that… *terrified whimper*

Cabin-in-the-Woods-poster-600x867As a note, if you haven’t seen Cabin in the Woods, prepare for some spoilers!

Orlando Universal theme park, teaming up with Drew Goddard,  has announced a thrilling new addition to their lineup, namely a Cabin in the Woods maze, based on the film. They will be remaining faithful to the movie, allowing theme park goers to experience some of their favourite scenes and locations from the film, such as the cabin itself and the underground lab.

This is what Orlando Universal has to say:

“We are building the cabin completely. You’re going to walk through a forest to get there. You’re going into the cabin. You’re going to go into the cube cells. We’re literally taking everything we can in the film and giving you a kind of best-of montage of the film with this kind of linking story.”

“In the maze, we’ve got many that were in the forefront of a lot of the scenes — the ballerina, the Sugarplum Fairy, the Hell Lord — but also too there are a couple rooms where we’re kind of featuring some of the creatures that were just on the screens in the control room of movie.”

I hope they will be selling fresh underwear at the snack stand, as this whole idea seems particularly terrifying, especially since many of the monsters featured in the film will not be animatronic, but “scare actors”. Even the merman will feature, which sounds particularly stomach-churning. Shut up and take my money!

According to Slashfilm, theme park goers entering the maze will play the part of new Facility employees, and will have opportunity to brush op on the film’s mythology with videos while they queue.

“In the finale we’ve got a couple characters that could open up from Halloweens past, our own events, because we were granted amazing permission to be able to include some of our lineage into ‘Cabin’s’ lineage,” he said. The Ancient Ones, however, may not make the cut. “The gods were very expensive to try and get to perform for us,” Aiello joked.”

The Cabin in the Woods maze opens during Halloween Horror Nights 23, but us South African fans of the film will have to cry ourselves to sleep that night, knowing what an amazing time we are missing out on.
