And San Diego Comic-Con International 2013 is officially a go! And what better way to kick off this most geekiest of weekends, than comic book robots?!

Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past is set to be one the major panels at Comic-Con tomorrow, and so in building up to that, the much anticipated sequel has activated its marketing campaign powers X-Gene to full effect!

First up is a new viral site for Trask Industries. If that name sounds familiar, that’s probably because earlier in the week it was revealed that Peter Dinklage would actually be playing classic X-Men baddie, Bolivar Trask, the creator of the feared mutant hunting Sentinels.

Speaking of Sentinels, SuperheroHype spotted this display setup outside the San Diego Convention Center, giving us our first look at (we hope) a scaled down version of the head of the robotic hunters, as well some anti-mutant propaganda posters.

Got to say, I’m digging those Sentinel faces. Yes they look a bit wonky in those pics, due to all the light making portions of their glass faces reflective, but I have a feeling that in a controlled environment, and seen on a larger scale, those would look suitably menacing. According to the signage, this is supposed to be the Mk 1 Sentinel, so I’m guessing that the final version would look even better.

Along with those Sentinel snaps, the official X-Men Tumblr page has also dished up these new character portraits, giving us not only a look at some of the new costumes, but more importantly, our very first look at Omar Sy (The Intouchables) as the time-travelling mutant Bishop! He’s the dreadlocked one with the “M” on his face, for those of you that don’t know.

Starring a huge cast featuring Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Halle Berry, Daniel Cudmore, Fan Bingbing, Evan Peters, Josh Helman, Lucas Till and Boo Boo Stewart, X-Men: Days of Future Past will be time-travelling into cinemas on May 23, 2014.

It’s incredibly ambitious. Making use of the classic Days of Future Past story, it will be reconciling the original Bryan Singer X-Men films with Matthew Vaughn’s First Class. Essentially the original Singer ones become the dystopian future where mutants are hunted by sentinels, and Kitty Pryde and Wolverine travel back in time from there to the 70’s of the First Class timeline, where they try to stop that future from happening.

The story does sound really amazing. I really hope they pull this off cause i just love the X-men. My favourite 2 timelines were the Legion Quest Timeline in the 4 episode comic book series and the start of the Age of Apocolypse. Loved those two a lot. Still have the original comics of them although when i moved i lost a few which is quite sad.
