Despite finding herself on two separate panels at Comic-Con this weekend past, Jennifer Lawrence had a pretty low-key convention. She did make one quip about how you should watch X-Men: Days of Future Past because she’s naked in it (always a good reason), but other than that there wasn’t much from the usually ebullient starlet.

Maybe that’s because she preferred to let her actions to do the talking. Specifically the actions in this rather gripping and dramatic new trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire!

“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour’ of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.

There are two things about this trailer that I really like. Firstly, it is substantially different in tone as well as footage to the first teaser trailer. Film studios are in the habit on rehashing trailers over and over again with just a few snippets of new footage sprinkled here and there. This not only shows us new scenes, but goes lighter on the drama and heavier on the thrills.

Secondly, I like how virtually nothing from the actual Games are being shown here. I don’t know if they will keep that up (doubtful, actually) but I seriously hope they do. There’s no point giving away all the good moments so far in advance.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will be diving into cinemas on November 22, 2013.
