We learn a little bit more about AGENTS OF SHIELD from its cast and crew

So, if you are anything like me you’ve been up all night since the Agents of Shield series has been announced perfecting your Whedon-shaped breakfast waffle recipe. Okay, so maybe you aren’t exactly like me but I’ll put good money on the fact that you are as excited as I am regarding the Marvel cinematic universe’s tv debut.

Well, there has been loads of speculation regarding the nature of the show, and exactly how it will be fitting in with the Marvel films, with many worrying that the series will mostly serve as a tv reference for the cinematic universe. However, in Whedon we trust and since we know his television pedigree, I am very sure we are in for a treat. Though, there is a bit of welcome affirmation from the series’ cast and crew. Here’s what Whedon had to say, as per Comingsoon:

“Every week it won’t be [the team meeting] some new hero … There can be a device, there can be a mystery… So much has happened since people found out there’s a superhero team and aliens invaded New York. Spy stuff, superhero stuff… Every week you get something that feels a little bit different.”

“As much as we can allow. We’re still working that out. It’s s a fluid process. The important thing is it’s a fun option, but it’s not the reason for the show. We don’t want to just be an Easter egg farm. We want them to come back for these people [the cast].”

Maurissa Tancharoen also said:

“I don’t think we’ll make references for the sake of making references.”

As for Coulson’s return, Whedon said the following regarding the survival of his seemingly fatal wound in The Avengers:

“We will be dealing with the issue…That will be part of the thread of the story.”

“It’s pretty cool that a guy who starts out in Iron Man as an annoying bureaucrat with a secret ends up with his own show”, said Gregg.

Well, it does seem like most of the few doubters out there can breath a sigh of relief. I will try and reserve judgement until I see the first episode but it really does seem like we are in for something quite great. I am not expecting Breaking Bad here, I am hoping for something distinctly Whedon – something that has be sourly lacking from the small screen the last while and hopefully it can flesh out the already grand cinematic universe as well.

What do you guys think?

It was a sad panda day. Wesley dying and the crazy chick’s reaction to his death…and of course the fact that Spike was awesome and we couldn’t see him and Angel “bitching” with each other anymore!!!

It is, but back then I was quite young and didn’t know about “chick flicks” or any such stuff so I enjoyed it quite a lot. Then when I started picking up on the “chick flick” thing there was Willow with her “stuff” and then Spike with his “stuff” so I kept watching.

Other than her being hot and sassy, we share a birthday! Only difference is a few hours because of time zones hehe. Will meet her one day!

This is still at the top of my must see series list. Not because it is based around the MCU. This is Joss Whedon. Joss freakign Whedon. I’ve loved almost all of his comics (haven’t disliked even one), I loved the Avengers movie, I absolutely loved Firefly, thoroughly enjoyed some of his other series as well. I even enjoyed the 2 episodes of the Office he did as well as Dr. Horrible. You can say I’m more than a little bit excited for this.
