We’re always telling you guys what we think of movies, but I think its about time that we give you, our esteemed readers, a turn on the soapbox. So starting from today, every Monday, we want to hear your unfiltered opinion on the major releases.

And the biggest release this weekend past was easily Fede Alvarez’s Evil Dead, a remake of Sam Raimi’s cult favourite horror. We’ve heard from Lourens, Noelle and James on what they thought of the gory, cabin in the woods throwback, but did you see it and did you agree/disagree?

Just a note: this will be a no holds barred discussion, so if you haven’t seen the movie yet, then enter at your own peril, as there be SPOILERS ahead.

  1. Simply amazing! I am a huge fan of the original movies and really enjoyed this one. loads of minor throwbacks in the film with the original voice recordings during the end credits that really made me say :” hail to the king baby”

I loved it. As I mentioned before, between Evil Dead and Cabin in the Woods, this genre finally managed to gain back the respect it deserves. I wonder how Evil Dead 2 will go, though – since it can’t be Army of Darkness 2, are we in for something familiar…or new?

I thought it was the best horror movie I had seen in a long, long time. Not really into torture porn or the we-found-a-video-tape thing. I can’t wait for the new one to come out.

I actually watched Evil Dead 2 this weekend as well. It just keeps getting funnier and funnier when you look at how far special effects have come.

Good movie and definitely a notch up in the gore department but it will not inspire those endless repeats for like the original.
