Now we do love us some wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff around here, but contrary to appearances, the fact that we’re now featuring a movie that was released more than half a decade ago, actually has nothing to do with temporal paradoxes. For once.

All the Boys Love Mandy Lane was finished and made it’s film festival debut in back in 2006, and received a UK theatrical release in 2008. But due to the fact that the company that owned the film’s US distribution rights went out of business soon after purchasing them, the film has been languishing in release schedule limbo ever since.

Now, 7 years after it was completed (hey, better late than never, right?), the rest of the world is finally going to find out why All the Boys Love Mandy Lane.

Starring Amber Heard and Anson Mount, “All the Boys Love Mandy Lane” is about a group of high-schoolers who invite Mandy Lane, “a good girl” who becomes the object of everyone’s affection after returning from summer break, to a weekend party on a secluded ranch. While the festivities rage on, the number of revelers begins to mysteriously drop one at a time.

Before director Jonathan Levine hit it big with 50/50 and then recently Warm Bodies, this was actually his feature film debut. Similarly, while Amber Heard had acted in other movies before, this was her first leading role in a big production. It would only be in 2008 with Never Back Down and Pineapple Express that her career would really start taking off, but it could possibly have happened a little sooner had it not been for some unfortunate business decisions.

But now it’s finally getting a theatre release in the US of A, so those 3 fans of slasher movies who haven’t yet either pirated the movie or, you know, just bought it online where it’s been available for the last 5 years, can finally get to see it. Whoo hoo, I guess.

That’s strange because this film was released locally on dvd à few years ago. In fact, my local vidéo store still has à copy.

Yeah, it got a local DVD release in some regions, but has never been released in theatres in others, most importantly, USA.
