Welcome to The Extras! A daily dose of all the smaller movie related news, clips and just plain cool stuff that you might have missed!

I’m not asking Santa Claus for much this year. Maybe a shinier lump of coal in my stocking, some new adult diapers for Darryn (they are rather pricey) and, oh yeah, this house that folds into an 100-seat movie theatre.

It would be very, very difficult to top the cringe inducing awfulness of the title Transformers: Dark of the Moon, but apparently Michael Bay isn’t one to back down from a challenge. The same company that registered that film’s domain name, has apparently registered a few more, meaning that we now have a couple options for Transformers 4‘s full title. The contenders are: Transformers: Last Stand, Transformers: Apocalypse, and Transformers: Future Cast.

Future Cast?! Really?!

Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity continues to be electrifying and magnetic. Because it’s gravity, and gravity is an electromagn- oh never mind! The point is, the movie is apparently really, really good. That’s according to the folks at the Telluride Festival, where it screened over the weekend. They’re joining the chorus of praise started at the Venice Film Festival a week ago. And while we still have a way to go before we see it locally (Oct 18), here are two character posters from the film, featuring half the faces of Sandra Bullock and George Clooney.

As is par for the course with these things, we know just about nothing about Christopher Nolan’s newest production, Interstellar. Or at least we used to know just about nothing. We now know it also apparently has something to do with corn. At least according to the Fort Macleod Gazette, the local news publication of the town where the film is currently shooting.

Set in the future, the movie details the toll climate change has taken on agriculture, with corn the last crop to be cultivated. The scientists embark on a journey through a worm hole into other dimensions in search of somewhere other crops can be grown.

Fort Macleod Gazette also have some set pics up of what appears to be a scene set in a dust storm, but with the way Nolan normally runs his ship, I’d be surprised if they  haven’t been pulled by the time this story goes live.

Hey, you guys, the Farrelly Bros just announced that Brady Bluhm is back for Dumb and Dumber To! Who’s Brady Bluhm?, I hear most of you ask. Well, I originally didn’t know either, I reply rather sheepishly. Bluhm was the actor who played “Billy in 4C”, the little blind boy in the original 1995 film who bought a very, shall we say, unique pet bird named Petey from Harry and Lloyd, much to my teenage self’s amusement.

“It’s official! Billy in 4C (I just thought he was really quiet) is returning in #DumbTo! Played again by the highly underrated Brady Bluhm.”

Did you wake up this morning full of vigour? Well, then allow me to give you a reality check and make you feel as old as the hills. Next week is the 20th anniversary of the release of The Fugitive starring Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones. Try not to cry too hard, salty tears and keyboards don’t mix. That film’s director, Andrew Davis, hasn’t helmed anything since 2006’s The Guardian, but CraveOnline spoke to him about what he has planned and why he’s turned away so many action directing gigs, despite making his name with action movies like Under Siege and Above the Law.

“I’m currently putting together a modern version of Treasure Island set in post Katrina Louisiana called Thieves Fortune. It’s the treasure of Jean LaFitte and I think it could be a really interesting, fun movie that could be about something and still be very entertaining.”

“I’ve turned down a lot of violent action movies which I don’t want to do. I don’t want to make a film where violence is the entertainment. I had a great time with Holes. I’m interested in doing family movies or four quadrant movies that are based upon quality literature or books.”

From driving real fast with a woman on his bonnet (which is not a sexual euphemism, by the way) to just driving real fast: Kurt Russell is apparently in talks to join the cast of Fast & Furious 7. There’s no word on exactly what the role would be, but it looks like it may be a biggie, as apparently Universal were originally after Denzel Washington for the gig, but he turned it down. With Jason Statham already cast as the film’s villain, Ian Shaw (angry big brother to Luke Evans’s Owen Shaw from FF6), and UFC Womens Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey and martial arts superstar Tony Jaa (presumably) set to be his muscle, it’ll be interesting to see where Russell fits into the picture.

Speaking of old action heroes still trying to blow stuff up, Arnold Schwarzenegger has posted this first look at himself, director Patrick Hughes and Harrison Ford on the set of The Expendables 3.

Can somebody please explain to me why Arnie looks like he’s one spray-on tan bottle away from appearing on Jersey Shore?

Inspired by Daniel Craig’s claim that he wants to bring back a bit of the levity to the newly rebooted James Bond franchise, the folks over at Film School Rejects have drawn up a list of 10 of the Bond films’ goofiest moments. I have to admit, I’m very surprised that they didn’t just list “ALL OF MOONRAKER” on there, but I supposed pigeons doing a double take will have to do.

And now, because we sometimes need reminding of just what horrible human beings we can be, here’s a supercut of the Worst Rap Scenes in Movie History. Oh, Al Pacino, what the f@#k were you doing in Jack & Jill?!

  1. I don’t know, has enough happened to Bond, for him to believably evolve into the Sean Connery Bond? That’s really how I view this, Craig plays the young Bond, promoted into the 007 ranks, eager but also partially naive to what life and work will now be like. He seems like he got colder after Vesper, however, I’m not sure M’s (Spoiler!!!) death, would be the turning point for him to mature into the job. Maybe it will, but I don’t think that’s believable myself.

We’ll have to see, I think Craig plays a very good, cold, ruthless Bond. We’ll see if they/he can make the transition to more levity believable.
