Like dude, there’re these most excellent films out today, but like, none of them have that level of bodacity, know what I mean? It’s like, shyeah, why isn’t there a third Bill and Ted movie man? I’m gonna like, buzz Keanu Reeves for some answers yo.

If Dumb and Dumber can get a sequel, why not Bill and Ted? After all, Dean “Galaxy Quest” Parisot was tasked with doing just that last year. Since that announcement though, we’ve heard zip, zilch and nada. MTV asked one half of the infamous Bill and Ted duo, Keanu Reeves, what was up with the film. According to him though, blame the cloak and dagger nature of Hollywood for this lack of trilogy-creation:

It’s a long story. There’s lots of subterfuge and conspiracy theories. There’s a whole thing… I might have to do one of those independent press, conspiracy, other-name kind of [statements] explaining why it hasn’t happened yet, because it’s pretty dark out there.

Reeves mentioned that a script was in place, but said that  “There’s all sorts of stuff and it just can’t — it’s just — there’s darkness out there that’s keeping it from happening.” Reeves also added that “it’s not winning right now. It’s that part of the story where it’s looking grim. It’s the dark period of the idea!”

Sounds like the project is going nowhere fast. Whatever this darkness is, it’s halting something on pre-production. Still, it’s not as if Reeves is desperate for work. His directorial debut Man of Tai Chi is being hailed as one of the best love letters to action films in recent years, while he has plenty of other work lined up.

Excellent for him then. Dude.
