Welcome to The Extras! A daily dose of all the smaller movie related news, clips and just plain cool stuff that you might have missed!

The latest edition of Zach Galifianakis’ “Between Two Ferns” is finally here and it may just be the most important thing he’s ever done with his life! Why? Because he bliksems Justin Bieber with a belt in here, that’s why!

CASH-COWICUS MILKUS! It would seem that after the massive reception of the recent major announcement that Harry Potter creator JK Rowling would be penning a new spinoff film based on the adventures of Newt Scamander – the fictional author of Potter-vers textbook, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them  – that Warner Bros are making plans for some more spinoff stories. They have apparently registered trademarks for the other fictional spinoff books that Rowling also wrote, namely Tales of Beetle the Bard and Quidditch Through the Ages, as well as for the character of Quidditch expert, Kennilworthy Whisp – “author” of the previously mentioned books – and the names of the Quidditch teams Wimbourne Wasps, Chudley Cannons and Kenmare Kestrels.

All of which point to the idea that if Fantastic Beasts ends up being a success – and with the army of Potter supporters, I don’t see how it could fail financially – then we’re probably going to see a Quidditch based feature film soon thereafter. And I have to say, I kind of like that idea.

The first poster is out for Brothership of the Wolf director Christophe Gans’ Beauty and The Beast, starring Vincent Cassel (Doberman, Ocean’s Twelve) and Lea Seydoux (Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Blue is the Warmest Color)and surprise surprise! It features a beast and a beauty.

Hugh Jackman is really starting to embody the character of Wolverine, as he seems to have developed one of the X-man’s greatest superpowers: Appearing in everything! He’s currently busy with X-Men: Days of Future Past and promoting the thriller Prisoners, and while chatting about the latter, he let slip that he will be joining Elysium writer-director Neil Blomkamp’s Chappie.

“I am doing a role in Neill’s new film, called Chappie, which we shoot in Johannesburg. I’m there for a couple of weeks at the beginning of next year.”

A “couple of weeks” is not a long time in movie production terms, so his role can’t be that big. The film sees Ninja and Yolandi Vi$$er from zef-rap group Die Antwoord as a pair of gangsters who steal a robot named Chappie, played by Sharlto Copley. According to Bleeding Cool‘s source, Jackman would play “a CEO who ends up on the wrong side of the gangsters,” and who is “apparently quite resourceful.”

For the God of Mischief, Loki doesn’t really get up to much mischief with the ladies, ya naahmean? But that’s just movie Loki. Comic book Loki was regularly knocking those Asgardian boots with The Enchantress, a character that movie Loki, aka Tom Hiddleston, wouldn’t mind being introduced into the movies.

“When I was first reading the comics, the relationship with the Enchantress was one of the really fun things I thought would be good to explore, and may have even pitched it to Kevin Feige at some point. Because she is as sneaky and as untrustworthy as he was.

They basically had a really fantastic and twisted relationship until they both say, “You know what? I don’t trust you as far as I can throw you. It’s over.” Because they keep betraying each other, in a way. So it could be good.”

Following on from the most explosive selfie on the internet, here’s a new, decidedly pyrotechnics-free pic from Transformers: Age of Extinction showing off the film’s lead human cast in Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz and Jack Reynor.

That must be some damn interesting gravel they’re looking at.

Piracy, much like Talk Like A Pirate Day, is wrong (Just ask Darryn). We know this, and we need to teach this to others. Just maybe stay away from using these 7 Moronic Ways Hollywood Wants To Teach Kids About Piracy, because lying to kids is never on.

And now for some Dumb and Dumber To casting news! Rob Riggle (Modern Family, 21 Jump Street) has landed the last major role in the comedy sequel. Or should that be roles? Riggle will be playing twins, namely “a handyman named Travis and his unstable brother, Captain Lippencott.”

Besides for that, a major Hollywood star has also signed on to film a secret cameo for the film. What? You want me to tell you which star? Did you not see the “secret” part? Oh ok, here’s a clue: She’s a young Oscar winner who often feels blue when she gets hungry.

In a nice change of pace from all the spoilerific trailers being released for Carrie, here’s composer Marco Beltrami’s main theme from the film. SPOILER ALERT! It’s kind of good.

Did you check out that rather bad trailer for The Nut Job this morning, and then curse my name for making you sit through that? Yeah, you can actually send your hater-ade Sony’s way. See, I was going to post an article about the new, rather chilling trailer for their true-life drama, Foxcatcher, but instead woke up to the news that not only has the trailer been pulled from the net, but the movie has now been delayed from its original December 20, 2013 release date to sometime in 2014.

There’s no word yet on exactly why the film is being delayed, a puzzling decision since the trailer looked really good and this move takes the film out of major awards contention.

And now for something completely different! Before you ask, no, I don’t have any idea what the bantha poodoo is going on in this next clip either, BUT JAPANESE STAR WARS IS JUST TOO WEIRDLY AWESOME TO NOT SHARE!
