Welcome to The Extras! A daily dose of all the smaller movie related news, clips and just plain cool stuff that you might have missed!

Well, my plans to remain Breaking Bad spoiler free until I eventually catch up with my viewing, got ruined spectacularly yesterday by an overzealous Facebook poster (Damn my uncanny ability to read whole sentences faster than my mouse-hand can scroll past them!). If you’re somehow still spoiler free, kudos to you! And also, you may not want to watch this next video, mashing up Breaking Bad with the recent Need for Speed trailer, titled “Jesse’s revenge”.

Forget about curves, looks like Warner Bros is having trouble with the law. Ryan A. Brooks, a former baseball player turned filmmaker has filed a suit against Warner Bros, claiming that the idea for the Clint Eastwood starring/produced Trouble With the Curve was stolen from the script and concept reel of his passion project, titled Omaha.

The suit claims that screenwriter Don Handfield stole the idea, after Brooks asked him to help polish his script, and that  it was Handfield and not Trouble‘s credited writer, Randy Brown, who actually penned it, citing Brown’s lack of baseball experience and location scouting, and somehow, also the fact that he played in a band at a steakhouse. Really.

Thank you very much, new poster for season 2 of Hannibal, I always thought that good, nightmare free sleep was overrated anyway.

Speaking to EW, creator Bryan Fuller explained that he actually designed the creepy poster himself, and it’s nightmare fuel imagery was completely intentional.

“After a horrifying descent into madness in season 1, this image ironically represents the perspective of a scrappier, clearer-minded Will Graham in season 2.  The scales have fallen from his eyes and he finally sees Hannibal Lecter for the monster he is.”

Looks like Fox is taking some pointers from Darryn and keeping it in the family. Simon Kinberg, who produced and/or wrote a number of the X-Men films, including the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past, has been tapped to pen and produce Fox’s Fantastic Four reboot. Kinberg’s involvement lends some credence to earlier rumours that Fox is looking to base this reboot in the same universe as the X-Men films.

Seth Grahame-Smith, Michael Green T.S. Nowlin and Jeremy Slater previously worked on an early draft of the script while Chronicle director Josh Trank is still attached to direct. No official casting has been made yet.

10 New hi-res images for Thor: The Dark World have come thundering in over at Collider. It’s mostly images we’ve seen before, either in low-res form or in the trailer, but if you’re looking forward to this film as much as I am, then I guess you’ve already clicked that link and are definitely not still reading this infernally long sentence.

Brad Furman’s last film, Runner Runner, may have impressed me about as much as a mild bout of indigestion, but the director will be getting to flex his filmmaking muscles again soon. He’s signed on to write and direct Bigger, the biopic about “bodybuilding icon Joe Weider, the Canadian entrepreneur who created the Mr. Olympia competition and mentored budding champ Arnold Schwarzenegger, and brother Ben, who co-founded the International Federation of BodyBuilding with Joe in 1946”.

The film will be based on Brothers of Iron, the Weider brothers’ 2006 autobiography, and chronicle the life from poor Jewish immigrants to the heads of a fitness empire.

“Conan, what is best in life?!” Getting somebody to write your new movie, that’s what! And that’s exactly what Universal Pictures has done, as they’ve tapped World Trade Centre scribe Andrea Berloff to pen Legend of Conan, the new flick that will see Arnold Schwarzenegger reprise arguably his most famous role.

The film is said to be a direct sequel to the first film, Conan the Barbarian, ignoring the events of the second film, Conan the Destroyer, as well as the recent reboot starring Jason Momoa in the title role.

It appears, according to the press release from Lionsgate, that we’ll be seeing the first trailer for director Stuart Beattie’s I, Frankenstein this coming Friday, 4 October. And to spruce up this announcement, here’s a new pic featuring Aaron Eckhart as the famed monster turned hero, having himself a demon barbeque or something.

We may not know what war is good for, but at least we know when it will get here. Legendary Films have finally dated Duncan Jones’ World of Warcraft videogame adaption, revealing that it will be released on Friday, December 18, 2015.

Looks like the rumours were true after all. Well kind of. Speaking to Sky News, Saoirse Ronan ( whose first name I just recently learned is actually pronounced “Seer-uh-shuh”) has confirmed that she has indeed auditioned for the lead female role in Star Wars: Episode VII, but she’s quick to add that “so has everyone”.

When pressed for more details on what the audition entailed, she clamped up though, claiming that Lucasfilm would “chop off her head with a light-sabre” if she spilled the beans. Damn, Kathleen Kennedy don’t play around, son!

We love Mortal Kombat around these parts, both the videogame as well as the webseries, Mortal Kombat Legacy. We also happen to be gigantic nerds. Which is why this hilarious short film, titled Nerd vs Scorpion, is so doubly awesome. Also, Sonya… Hmmmm.
